#UNGA week kicks off on Monday

Spread the love

The general debate of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly starts on Tuesday, but there were plenty of meetings and events on Monday already.

Just a couple of highlights from Monday:

A High-Level Event on UN Reform was held as one of the first meetings of the day chaired by none other than US President Donald Trump who participates in his first UNGA as POTUS this week.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres delivered remarks before the High Level Stakeholder Dialogue on Climate Change which is of course now a recurring topic of the UNGA. The Dialogue was attended by famous champions of climate action including former US Vice President Al Gore or former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

There was a High Level Meeting on Hurricane Irma, discussing the required action to reduce the impacts for communities that cannot do it alone. Robert de Niro was among the speakers.

If you wish to follow the events real time, I recommend all the UN Twitter feeds and of course other social media. Here’s a quick guide for that. Also check out the UN on Trello to learn how to post about UNGA on social media.

For a bonus, and especially if you are new to UN week:

My social media feeds are literally buzzing these days, I just love this time of the year!
